Searching for information about the Miśliński family
Maria Zawadzka, Jerozolima, 14 August 2010

The International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation in Jerusalem is searching for information concerning the living relatives of the Miśliński family, who helped a Jewish girl during the Second World War in Poland.
The Miślińskis gave shelter to Rachela Dronżek (or Drążek) in 1943. At that time they were living in Miastkowo in the Podlasie region. Rachela was born in 1938 near Łomża. She is still alive – she converted to Catholicism and became a nun. At present she lives in Jerusalem. Rachela lost contact with her younger brother Izaak, because she thought that he had died during the Holocaust. However, today she things that he can have survived the war. The Wallenberg Fouundation has already been searching for numerous Polish families who helped Jews in Poland during Nazi occupation, among them the family of Stanisława Sławińska, honored with the title of the Righteous Among the Nations.
If anyone has information concerning the Miślinski or Dronżek family, please contact the Wallenberg Foundation (irwf@irwf.org) or write to the project “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History” (sprawiedliwi@jewishmuseum.org.pl).
The mission of theInternational Raoul Wallenberg Foundation is to develop educational programs and public awareness campaigns based on the values of solidarity and civic courage, ethical cornerstones of the Saviors of the Holocaust. Raoul Wallenberg is a Swedish diplomat missing since January 1945 after saving the lives of tens of thousands of Jews and other persecuted during World War II. He was honored with the title of the Righteous Among the Nations in 1986. The Wallenberg Foundation has offices in New York, Jerusalem, Buenos Aires, Berlin and Rio de Janeiro.
