During this year’s 7th edition of the Festival of Jewish Culture “Warsaw of Singer”, organized by the Shalom Foundation from August 28th to September 5th, 2010, in the foyer of the Jewish Theater at Grzybowski Square it is organized the exhibition “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History”, presenting the faces of the Polish Righteous Among the Nations. The photographs presented at the exhibition come from the albums published by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland as part of the project “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History”. In October 2007, November 2008 and August 2009 three groups of Polish Righteous were honored with high state decorations by the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński. The stories of these heroes are presented in three albums, also available on the website "Polish Righteous". The exhibition is organized by the Shalom Foundation in cooperation with the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

This year’s 7th edition of the Festival of Jewish Culture “Warsaw of Singer” was devoted to the Righteous Among the Nations and it was on their lives and stories that the first day of the Festival (Saturday, August 28th) was focused. The members of the Honorary Committee of this event are: the President of the European Parliament Prof. Jerzy Buzek, Prof. Władysław Bartoszewski, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland; Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of Warsaw; Zvi Rav-Ner, Ambassador of Israel to Poland. Among the planned events took place a meeting with the members of the Polish Society of the Righteous Among the Nations, a screening of the documentary “The Righteous”, a meeting with Janina Zgrzembska, daughter of the Righteous Irena Sendler, the ceremony of laying wreaths in front of the plaque commemorating the Righteous Among the Nations in the All Saints’ Church on Grzybowski Square in Warsaw, and the official celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Polish Society of the Righteous Among the Nations.

The Shalom Foundation has been organizing the Festival of Jewish Culture in Warsaw since 2004. The 100th anniversary of Isaac Bashevis Singer’s birthday was the reason to organize the first edition of this event. The Festival preserves the memory of prewar Jewish Warsaw. The aim of the Shalom Foundation is to reconstruct for a few days the prewar atmosphere of Próżna Street in order to present the annihilated world of the Polish Jews. Every year among the events being part of the Festival are concerts, film screenings, song and dance workshops, paper cutting, ceramics and Hebrew calligraphy.
