In May 1942, Bronislawa Kaczorowska,who was living in Piastów, was visited by her sister, Maria. The sister brought with her a 4-year-old Jewish girl, Krysia Szrajer, the daughter of a friend. The Kaczorowski family agreed to look after the child. Krysia lived with them in Piastów until the liberation and was treated like a family member. After the war Krysia with her mother and stepfather emigrated to Australia. Since then the rescued girl and Bohdan Kaczorowski haven’t seen each other but they have been corresponding for all these years.
