Story of Rescue

September 2010, Wirtualny Sztetl

Anastazja and Stanisław Bałszczyk spent the Nazi occupation in Warsaw at 39/53 Złota Street. They had two daughters: 29-year-old Zofia and 22-year-old Stanisława. In November 1942, they hid Zofia Kunegis at their house. They produced a fake documents for her. Then they helped her husband, Bernard Kuniegis, to find a safe shelter. Stanisław Błaszczyk looked after their 5-year-old daughter, Krystyna Kuigis. After the II World War, the Błaszczyks adopted the girl. They left for Israel in the 1960s.
