September 2010, Wirtualny Sztetl
Marianna Adasiak-Bartoszewska spent the Nazi occupation in Ursus (currenly a district of Warsaw) at 24 Wrzosowa Street. In 1942, Marianna’s brother brought to her flat the Szczepański family (pre-war name: Szaniawski) – a Jewish couple with their less than 10-year-old daughter, Basia. Mrs. Marianna hid the family for 1,5 year. When the danger of exposure occurred, Marrianna found a new hiding place at Mrs. Tomalowa Zrębska’s in Ursus, and then at the Kakiets’. The Szczepańskis reached the end of the II World War in a hiding place in Michałowice near Grójec. After the II World War, they settled in Otwock, and then emigrated to Israel.
