On the doors of this larder hung some clothes, wrappers, coats, sweaters, and this way the room was masked. […] if there was any danger. If there wasn’t any danger, they slept […] wherever it was possible: in the kitchen, in the hall, in the room, on some folding furniture, because, as I said, the apartment was small, very modest, it wasn’t comfortable enough for them to have their own room. In general, the conditions were difficult. But it was just about saving life, not about living in great comfort, because at such times, as I say, life is the most important thing.
