During the stay at my grandmother’s, someone denounced grandma and reported someone was hiding in the apartment. Since the house in which my grandmother lived together with mom was located in an annex and wasn’t isolated – the windows of another building were opposite the kitchen – it was possible to see from outside what was happening in the rooms of the apartment. All the more so, because the heat made it necessary to open the windows. And from the higher floors you could see what was going on inside. My mom was called to the Gestapo twice, but luckily she had a certificate that she attended religion classes, in which it was written that she’s a Roman Catholic, so she somehow saved herself and was left in peace.
